Suit Up
Every kid’s lazy weekend agenda is pretty universal. They wake up absurdly early, pour a bowl of cereal, and plop down on the couch for their fix of morning cartoons.Someone, in some nameless city needs help, and there’s only one person they call.A hero. You’ve all seen it. It doesn’t matter where they are, or what they're doing.Walking down the street? Beelines for the nearest phone booth. In bed with their partner? Good thing they brought an overnight bag.At the office? Guess that coffee is just gonna have to get cold. They hear the cries, suit up and dive headfirst into danger. Completely disregarding their own personal needs, they know that they serve a purpose that is greater than themselves.Sometimes people are grateful, and sometimes they throw anger and resentment their way.Still, they press on, continuing to show up, time and time again.I’m not saying that Funeral Directors are superheroes. But, I’m not saying we aren’t.It’s 2:43am and someone needs our help. When the call comes, we’re ready.A cape? No.A blazer. We suit up.
