My name is Shannan, and I do death for a living.

I’m a Licensed Funeral Director, and spend the bulk of my time guiding grieving families through what is arguably, the worst times of their lives.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to serve many amazing families of varying ethnicities, religious and cultural backgrounds and one thing remained constant–they had all lost someone they loved and didn’t know what to do next.

It’s not all fluffy and sweet, but it is real. You’re about to be allowed passage through the looking glass. All of the names and some of the details have been changed to protect the privacy of the families I’ve served, and the people I’ve worked with.

Death is one of the few things we all have in common, but, for some reason, we don’t ever talk about it.

It’s time for that to change. Let’s rebuild our relationship with death; understand and embrace it.
