What Do You Need?

There are normally only two ways into the funeral industry:
  1. You were born into a family that has been engrossed in death care and were raised in it or,
  2. You are one of the kitschy, Nightmare before Christmas-esque afficionados with the sugar skull backpacks and ungodly amounts of black eyeliner who are fascinated by the macabre.
I am neither of the two. If you’d told me a decade ago that I’d be a funeral director, I’d have laughed you out of the room…and yet, here we are.
It’s always a special thing when a member of the death care industry experiences a personal death. Switching gears from being the consoler to the consoled. It really got me thinking just how many ways the funeral industry gets it wrong, which set me on a journey to try to figure out how to get it right.
So this week, I have a question for you. Have you experienced a loss? What was your experience lacking? How could it have been better? I want to hear from you. Email askidodeath@gmail.com or slide into my DMs on Instagram @idodeath
Be well,
